Do I Need Two Pairs of Running Shoes?
If you run almost every day, it is beneficial to give your shoes a rest in between runs. Your shoes will last longer when you give them a day or two to decompress and dry out between workouts. This is especially important if you did a run in the rain or snow (not likely this time of year!). You'll benefit by wearing running shoes that are fresher than if you ran in the same ones every day.
If you can't purchase two pairs of shoes at one time, try buying a new pair of shoes halfway through the life of your current pair. Having a fresh pair of shoes as a reference will help you notice when your old ones are ready to be replaced.

I train with two different brands of stability shoes so my feet can adapt to different shoes readily, mostly because the shoe companies constantly change their models. I also have a pair of lightweight trainers that I use for races and speedwork. Yup, I have THREE pair of shoes in my rotation!!
I actually have 4 pairs with my Asics2110 due to be retired soon. I have two pair of NB846 and the last pair was marked down @ Sierra Trading Post…..Big discount. The other pair are a pair of NB903 also marked down LOTS @ Sierra Trading Post. My first pair of NB846’s were a markdown @ NBExpress. So one does not have to spent massive amounts to get a good shoe. Sierra carries several brands and they have great sales from time to time. So if your are patient good deals can be found.
Give me two pairs, I need two pairs. So I can get my stomping in my Ascis 21’s
Hi,
A couple of years ago I trained, and ran in my first marathon. I bought two pairs of the same running shoes. About 6 weeks before the marathon, I started running in a new pair. I then put them away the week before the race, and used the other pair. On race day I used the fresh pair, that were broke in just enough, so that I had lots of spring and support for the race.
The reason I bought them at the same time was, I wanted to make sure I had them when I needed them.
Great blog byt the way.
