Running and Weight Loss: Tip of the Week

Running is perhaps one of the most effective ways to lose weight, but that doesn't mean it's a magic bullet. In fact, you may gain a few pounds when you first start running as you lose fat but add muscle, which is denser and heavier than fat. Try this tip to help lose weight while running:

Keep a Food Journal: Write down everything you eat and drink for at least a few days. You may be shocked at how many calories you're taking in, but it will help you identify areas for improvement. You can track your foods in your training journal, so you can also see what kind of effect certain foods have on your performance.

Actually, you don’t gain that much weight in muscle when starting to workout, unless you are a body builder. So, weight won’t really increase noticeably from muscle gain. Check out the book “The truth about fitness”.
