NYC Marathon: Are You In?

Thursday June 4, 2009
The lottery drawing for the 2009 New York City Marathon took place yesterday and today the 100,000+ applicants are being notified whether or not they got in. If you entered the lottery and got rejected, don't feel bad – you're in good company. Although the 2009 NYC Marathon (which takes place November 1) will have a field of more than 40,000, only several thousand spots were up for grabs in the lottery. More than 35,000 spots will go to those who guaranteed their entries through various means.

Although the New York Marathon is the biggest and most well-known marathon in the U.S., there are plenty of other options if you're looking to run a fall marathon. Check out this list of top U.S. Fall marathons for 2009.

For all of you who are training for the run in NY, a great guide to use for NY routes to follow can be found in the guide book, “Fun on Foot in New York,” by Warwick Ford and Nola Ford. Their website even provides supporting information and downloadable maps the reader can print and carry.
