Too often I talk to female runners who complain about sports bra that don't give them the right support, or cause issues like chafing. Like a good pair of running shoes, spending money on the right sports bra can make your runs much more comfortable and enjoyable, and also help you feel much more confident when running in public.
To find the right sports bra, I suggest going to a running specialty store, where they carry bras that are designed for runners. It's good to try on bras in person and test them out by running in place and jumping up and down.
If you don't have a running shop near you, you get some virtual help with Moving Comfort's recently-launched Sports Bra Fitting Room, an online sports bra fitting experience. You'll be led through a step-by-step measuring process, and get recommendations for sports bras based on your size and activity level. I went through the process myself and it pointed me right to my current favorite sports bra, Moving Comfort's Alexis bra.
