Definition: A heart rate monitor is a device that, well, it monitors the user's heart rate. It usually consists of a chest strap and a wrist receiver. The chest strap monitors the electric voltages of the user's heart through the electrodes that are on it. At every heart beat, the chest strap sends a message to the wrist receiver, where its computer tells the user data that can help with training (such as current heart rate, cardiovascular fitness level, and training zones).
