What is Supination?

By

Updated January 25, 2014

Definition: Supination is when a runner's feet and ankle roll outward when running, which places extra stress on the foot. It can lead to foot pain and other running injuries, such as illiotibial band syndrome , plantar fasciitis , and shin splints. Getting fitted for the right running shoes and wearning shoe inserts or orthotics can help correct supination.
