The Bottom Line

All runners have to think about hydration. And while I do sometimes use GU2O as an electrolyte-replacement sports drink, it's definitely not my favorite way to hydrate. The taste is somewhat off-putting, but the formula does seem to work to rehydrate quickly.

Guide Review - Gu2O Electrolyte Replacement Sports Drink

As a Texas runner, I run most of the year in the sun and heat, so electrolyte replacements are important to me. Personally, GU2O beats sugary-sweet, calorie-full Gatorade but falls short of the Nuun Hydration Tabs awesomeness.

However, I do use GU2O on a fairly regular basis. It's good when I need to make a huge batch of electrolyte replacement (like for ultramarathons) because it doesn't leave stickiness or grit on the inside of my hydration pack. It's also nice for adding a small amount to my water bottle when I just need a little electrolyte sports drink.

Though GU2O is not my favorite electrolyte-replacing sports drink, it does have some redeeming qualities that some sports beverages lack.
