Some days I just want to hear the sound of nature, but other days I want something to help push me along. On those days, these are my songs. Enjoy!

1. Come On Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners

I love this version of the song and the cheeriness of this song can keep me going when I thought I was done. Plus, they keep repeating 'come on;' how can you stop then?

2. Legs - ZZ Top

When my legs get tired, this song turns it all around. "She knows how to use her legs" and so do I. I use them for a good long run!

3. Santeria - Sublime

This reggae-like song makes me want to keep moving. It has got enough emotion to push me through a tough run. It is also a great song for starting a workout on days that I do not really feel like hitting the trail. It is slow enough to be good for a slow start and, after the song is over, I am usually ready for the rest of my run.

4. What You Waiting For - Gwen Stefani

It starts off slow, so it is good to start a run with, but then the tick-tocks really give you a good metronome to follow. And I just cannot stop when I hear the chorus telling me to take a chance, etc.

5. One Way Or Another - Blondie

This 80s pop hit is another of my favorites. I love the energy of this song!

6. I'm Too Sexy - Right Said Fred

Who does not love this song? OK, probably a lot of people. But whenever I think of quitting in the middle of my run, a little strutting down the trail to this fun tune gets me back in the right mindset.

7. Should I Stay Or Should I Go - The Clash

I love The Clash, so putting only one of their songs on this list was tough. Should I Stay Or Should I Go is a great song for running. It takes my mind to another place and it is like a 3-minute meditation.

8. 10 Dollar - M.I.A.

If you have not heard of M.I.A., look her up. She is awesome and again I could have mentioned any of her songs. (I also adore Hombre and URAQT.) But 10 Dollar has the perfect beat for me to run to.

9. She's A Rebel - Green Day

Whenever this song plays, my speed nearly doubles. It is not the beat, it is the energy and the thrill it gives me. She is a rebel, she is a saintÂ…

10. Hella Good - No Doubt

This is another great song to start a run with or to cool down with. The steady beat and repetition allow it to fade into the background and keep me moving.
