This is for a 2-mile run. If you only have to do 1.5 miles, the extra half mile will do you good.

Pick the subtitle that describes you now and stick with the program outlined under it. Good luck!

A.

I have at least 3 months until my PT test.

You have 3 steps to take to make sure you pass your test.
  1. Start with the 4 Weeks to 1 Mile program. Don't worry too much about speed. Do what is comfortable.
  2. Continue with the 4 Weeks to 2 Miles program. When you feel like it, run a little faster than you normally do. Try to increase your speed, but not every run.
  3. The last month is the time to think about speed. You should be able to run the full 2 miles now, so start working on running those miles faster. Try running 4 times a week: 2 2-mile runs (one that is at your comfort speed, one that is a little tougher), 1 1-mile run (fast), and 1 2.5-3 mile run.

I have 2 months until my PT test.

Hopefully, you can already run .5 mile. If so, start at number 2 above (4 Weeks to 2 Mile program) and next month do number 3 above. If you can't run .5 mile now, just do numbers 1 and 2 above, at least you'll be able to run the full 2 miles.

I have 1 month until my PT test.

If you've got a pretty good running base already, you should be fine. If you can run 2 miles pretty well, start at step 3 above. If you can't run 2 miles well, try the 4 Weeks to 2 Miles program.

I have less than 2 weeks until my PT test.

If you can't pass your test now and you are just getting started on your training, you're probably not going to be passing the test this go-round. What you can do is remember to start earlier next time. Good luck!
