Running in the heat and humidity can be much more enjoyable and comfortable when you're wearing the right clothes and gear. Here are some recommendations for summer running apparel and gear that will help keep you cool and happy.

Brooks Epiphany Stretch Short

These running shorts are so comfortable that they actually made me want to run longer. I'm not kidding. The fabric is ultra-lightweight and stretchy, so these shorts are so easy to move in. They also feature mesh on the sides, making them extremely breathable. And they come in many different fun and vibrant colors.

This super lightweight T-shirt from Under Armour is semi-fitted so it gives a good fit without being too tight or clingy. If you love the feel of cotton, but had being wet, this is the shirt for you. The cotton fabric dries five times faster than ordinary cotton, keeping you cool and dry. The V neckline and extended body length make for a very comfortable fit.

Moving Comfort Sprint Skort

This running skirt from Moving Comfort is a flattering, comfortable and practical alternative to running shorts. There are plenty of pockets (two side and one internal) to store anything you need for a long run or race. The "boy shorts" under the skirt are super comfortable and don't ride up, while helping to protect from chafing (and peek-a-boos if it's a little windy). Also, with a wide waistband and the compression shorts, the fit is very flattering.

Outdoor Research Via Collection Women's Sleeveless Tee

Highly wicking and extremely breathable, these cute, semi-fitted sleeveless shirts also feature UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) 30+ to protect your skin from the sun. The anti-microbial finish means you can actually wear the shirt for a couple of runs before having to wash it. And with the shirt's flat-seam construction, you also don't have to worry about chafing. The shirt is also available in long-sleeve or short-sleeves.

If you've been hesitant to run in tight-fitting pants, these capris from Under Armour may change your mind. With a wide waistband and rousched knees, they're extremely comfortable, light, and easy to move in. They're also very sleek and slenderizing, keeping you tucked in at all the right places. And Under Armour's Moisture Transport System will keep you dry during those sweaty runs.

Brooks Epiphany T

This sporty, super-soft, fast-drying, classic V-neck T with moisture-transfer functionality built right into the fabric pairs nicely with Brooks' Epiphany Stretch Short (see above). Like the shorts, it also features mesh side panels, which is great for summer running. The technical fabric quickly moves sweat away from your skin, helping you stay dry. And one really cool feature is the small front hip pocket, which can hold your MP3-player, key or ID.

Fuel Belt Helium 4

Hydrating on the run is always important, but especially when running in the heat. Fuel Belt's newer and lighter version of their famous bottle belt, the Helium 4, makes it easier to carry your fluids. The belt is made of ventilated foam pads, which help make the belt comfortable and breathable. I didn't notice much bounce at all when running with this belt, and the bottles stay securely in their holders. I've tried many different fluid carriers, and this is definitely one of the best.

New Balance Mesh Technical Running Cap

This technical hat is specifically designed for runners. It's made of a breathable mesh fabric, so it's lightweight and comfortable, but also keeps the sun off your head during runs. And the internal cloth headband prevents the sweat from running into your eyes.
