body glide
- I never knew about nipple chafing until a bad experience during a long training run. Ouch! My friend told me to put Body Glide on my nipples -- it does the trick. Hasn't happened to me again.

get through the mental wall
- I struggled to get past the 2 mile mark when a friend convinced me that it was all mental. She told me that if I could do 2 miles, I was physically capable of doing 3 miles. She was right. I just had to convince my brain that my body could do it. Now I'm up to 6 miles and I plan to run a half marathon in the future.

running shoes
- I was running in the wrong kind of shoes for years and was having all kinds of knee problems. Someone told me to get a gait analysis and find out what shoes were right for me and it has made all the difference. Although I replace my shoes much more frequently than I did before, it's worth the investment.

run outside
- I always tried to run on a treadmill and really struggled. I could never manage to go more than a mile without having to stop to take a break. A friend finally convinced me to try running outside with her. I found it so much easier and more motivating to be outside in the fresh air. I run outdoors all the time now, at least 5 times a week, and am in the best shape of my life. I'm very grateful to my friend who convinced me to step away from the treadmill.
